My Tip for December: Norma near Rome.
...it shows up how most of the italian villages look like. Mountains ridge (to protect themselves in the long and dark middle age). A main castle, also because Pirats from the sea liked to make escursion deep in the shore to go shopping for nice girls food and other goods. And of course churches with the massive bell tower. The bell was used to advise the people involved in the field works that a treat (armed men) was appearing at the horizont. Most of the incursion was made by the near by villages or city, and there was a never ending conflict for stolen animals, raped females, or any other offense they can exchange.

After two days of Bassano-Inversion-Soup flying suddenly
good weather came. It seemed to be that cold droplets of air
are falling down. Thermals (5m/s+) started from 10:00am!
For the first time i tried HDV camcoder. A bit shaky suspension,
still working on that, but results are promising!

All shots done with Canon HV10, which is 440g HDV 1080i camcoder. This time i put Kenko 0.5x wide adapter.
NLE was done uder linux with GPL software only:
cinelerra, mpeg2enc, mencoder and libiec61883

Some shot from XC-Fiesch. Excellet panoramas but rather diffucult windy thermals.
The OLC top 10 manage anyways to fly FAI200km. I still wait for "My Day".
The clip starts shots of "Grimselschlange". It is the wind coming from
north into the Rhone valley through Grimsel-Pass. It is really like a river of cold air.
If you got caught by this wind, you register -5m/s and 50-60km/h - and you have to
fly with it 5-15km away to get some lift again. In the evening it becomes visible
due to clouds in the day time it is usually not visible.

Take off at Melchboden in Zillertal. In 6h of flight in rather rough conditions, where i couldn't ever think abut the camcoder i have covered over 140km. Then nice surprice, The Last Thermal took me to 3000m in the middle of the valley and I had 24km long final glide to landing in Gasthaus Schett in very smooth air. Total distance: 171km
